US cancers attributed to obesity

Obesity seems to indirectly cause many forms of cancer.

The Harvard School of Public Health states that 100,000 cancer cases per year can be attributed to obesity, in the United States alone.

The distribution by type of cancer is the following :

  • Breast cancer : 11 %
  • Colon cancer : 14 %
  • Endometrial cancer : 49 %
  • Esophageal cancer : 39 %
  • Kidney cancer : 31 %
  • Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma : 20 %
  • Pancreatic cancer : 14 %

Welcome to the blog!

The motivation for this blog comes from all the articles that I read about obesity into various newspapers and magazines. Television is also full of programs that discuss obesity topics.

Obesity is fast becoming a worldwide health problem. Adults, adolescents and children all over the world are getting more and more obese.

Governments are desperately trying to contain the enormous costs that are related to obesity.

On the other hand, information technologies, particularly Internet, are also becoming increasingly prevalent among the general population. Some authors even consider information technologies as a cause of obesity.

Internet nevertheless remains a very powerful tool that can be harnessed to fight obesity. It can provide information about :

  • obesity in general
  • products and services that can prevent or combat obesity
  • information technologies that can themselves be used against obesity

I gladly welcome all comments and posts related to this blog.

Thank you!
